Wieland will be presenting Scriptoline high-quality brass and nickel silver for ball-pen tips: materials with excellent processing properties

Wieland-Werke AG, Ulm, Germany, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of semi-finished products in copper and copper alloys, will participate in Paperworld 2010, taking place in Frankfurt (Main) from 30 January to 2 February 2010. At the international trade fair for paper, office supplies and stationery, the company will present Scriptoline, a range of high-quality brass and nickel-silver materials specially designed for ball-pen tips. Outstanding material and processing properties make Scriptoline the first choice. Ball-pen tips made of Scriptoline are resistant not only to wear and tear but also to corrosion caused by aggressive ink ingredients. Scriptoline alloys exhibit both good machinability and good cold working properties. In particular nickel-silver materials are characterised by good to very good corrosion resistance which is critical to the long life of ball-pen tips exposed to the aggressive ingredients of ink. Ball-pen tips made of nickel-silver wire provide a high level of writing comfort which is particularly appreciated in Asian countries such as China and Japan where writing instruments have to meet high performance requirements given the traditional filigree characters. Ball-pen tips in nickel silver fulfil these requirements and are, therefore, particularly interesting to the markets in the Far East as an alternative to the stainless steels frequently used there.
