for gear, power steering and engine oil cooling systems
consist mainly of finned tubes in copper or aluminium alloys. Similar to thread rolling, the fins are rolled out from the wall of the plain tube. Finned tube heat exchangers retain their form under extreme conditions whilst being sufficiently malleable to allow bending to almost any shape. These characteristics combined with high performance allow the size of the heat exchangers to be kept to a minimum.
These heat exchangers are mainly used as air-oil coolers, whereby the cooling air flows around the fins. However, it is also possible to place a coiled heat exchanger into an oil bath (gear or engine sump), whereby the lost heat is channelled via the cooling water.
Coiled heat exchangers are only made to order and subject to a minimum order requirement. We would be pleased to assist you with the design and construction of your heat exchanger.
