Information on special alloys, -coatings and supplementary material

A new generation of connector alloys starts with K88/C18080:

K88/C18080 is the result of a joint development programme between Wieland Werke AG and Olin Brass Co./USA. This alloy offers high yield strenght (550 MPa), very good formability up to sharp bending, outstanding electrical conductivity (80% IACS) as well as remarkable relaxation resistance up to 200°C. K88 is a higher electrical/thermal conductivity alternative to tin bronzes, copper-nickel-silicon alloys and copper-nickel-tin alloys. It can compete with low beryllium alloys if higher electrical conductivity, price and environmental compatibility are concerns. K88 is a CuCrTiSi-based alloy to suit a wide range of automotive, industrial and multimedia applications.

Wieland-SnTOP: A new hot-dip tinned surface for highest demands:

SnTOP is a simply entectic SnAgCuX-alloy with 3,8% Ag. This coating was developed as a leadfree alternative which fulfills the increasing demands for fixed and mounted connections. As a connector coating a constant contact resistance after alternating temperature is obvious. The fine grained microstructure with intermallic particles as dispersoids increase the wear behaviour in comparison to pure tin.

SnTOP is therefore a high-quality alternative to heat-treated tinned surfaces. The coating is lower priced than silver platings and a high-quality alternative to SnPb.

Why Sn-TOP®?
