Bushings for aluminium pistons
New piston designs have become necessary and will continue to be necessary in future due to legislation for pollutant emission of diesel engines. The next milestone is the Euro 5 emission standard. As ignition pressure continues to rise so will the stress the piston is subjected to.
Bushings in Wieland-SB8 and the lead-free Wieland-SD1 are used to reinforce the piston eye.

Wieland-SB8 (PDF, 29 KB)
- particularly suitable for aluminium pistons are wrought alloys (important: no casting) which are hot and cold worked
- excellent hot tensile strength
- outstanding oil corrosion resistance
- dynamic load resistance up to 170 MPa
Wieland-SC5 (PDF, 57 KB)
- lead-free (Pb < 0.3 % for SD1)
- particularly suitable for aluminium pistons are wrought alloys (important: no casting) which are hot and cold worked
- excellent hot tensile strength
- outstanding oil corrosion resistance
