Materials for bathroom accessories

Formed components frequently used for bathroom accessories (e.g. towel rails, soap dishes), require materials

with good machining and cold working properties. The alloys Wieland-Z21 (CuZn38Pb2) and Wieland-Z23 (CuZn36Pb3) offer a good compromise between machining and cold working. Due to their good resistance to corrosion, Wieland-Z21 and Wieland-Z23 have been proven to be particularly suitable for these applications. Furthermore, both alloys have very good grinding, polishing, soldering and electroplating properties.

Soft temper is recommended for manual bending, as it requires low bending forces. However, the disadvantage is a dark colour of the surface resulting from thermal treatment. For mechanical bending we recommend half-hard temper with a bright drawn surface.

For CNC bending machines we can supply a different alloy composition of Wieland-Z23 with special bending qualities. This alloy has uniform spring-back qualities which eliminates the necessity of manual correction of the bends.

Tubes and sectional tubes are used for the production of bathroom accessories such as rails or fittings (e.g. shower curtain rails). They are made from Wieland-M37 (CuZn37) lead-free brass which has good cold working properties. A specially developed process enables us to produce flawless surfaces, thus minimizing the cost for further surface treatments such as grinding and polishing.
