Voehringen - life and work

With approximately 13,000 inhabitants, Vöhringen is a very vibrant town - a town of services and energetic economic activity as well as an educational and sports centre that offers a diverse range of cultural activities. The development of Vöhringen town is closely related to the Wieland-Werke. Wieland has been and still is actively engaged in the social and cultural development of the town and its inhabitants.

The town showed its appreciation of the efforts made by Wieland-Werke AG by, among other things, making Wolfgang Eychmüller, former Chairman of the Board of Wieland-Werke AG, an honorary citizen. The town's Culture Centre was opened in 1993 and is named after him. The Wolfgang-Eychmüller-House became social and cultural centre of the town. Here you can enjoy concerts, theatrical performances, festivals, conferences and seminars.

Vöhringen’s rich cultural and sporting opportunities are complemented by a broad range of leisure activities. Visitors and residents of the town have the opportunity, to walk in one of the last floodplain forest areas along the Iller and learn about the indigenous flora and fauna.

Vöhringen is conveniently situated for excursions into the Swabian Jura, in Allgäu and the Alps. In summer, within only an hour’s drive, there are many beautiful hiking trails. During the winter there are attractive snowy ski resorts. And if, after a cold winter, you fancy a warm southern spring, you can enjoy the Italian sun in just a few hours.

Vöhringen is also only about 17 miles south of Ulm/Neu-Ulm. There you can see the rich offerings of this wonderful twinned town on the Danube. Please read our site description of Ulm.
