Lead-free materials are becoming increasingly important, particularly as an alternative used for sanitary applications.
Since 2009, Wieland has distributed the patented material ECOBRASS developed by Wieland itself, together with Diehl Metall Messing, under the trade name "CUPHIN" .
ECOBRASS® can be used in various sectors such as the automotive or electronic industries.

Our novelty, the special Wieland-ECOBRASS®, has the following properties:
- high strength
- corrosion resistance
- suitable for machining
- suitable for warm and cold forming
- lead-free
Definitions:
ECOBRASS metal value:
- is an independent value based on the LME (London Metal Exchange) quotation
- consists of 76 % copper, 21 % zinc and 3 % silicon
- fluctuates daily and is valid until 11.30 hrs of the same day
ECOBRASS swarf value:
- is based on the ECOBRASS metal value
- is calculated according to a Wieland formula
- expresses the value of a credit note which the fabricator receives for 100 kg of clean and unmixed ECOBRASS swarf returned to Wieland-Werke AG
Returned swarf is credited on the conversion account at a conversion ratio of 120:100. For ECOBRASS swarf/scrap collection by Wieland is free of charge from 5,000 kg.
Just like the alloy, ECOBRASS swarf is something special. Therefore, we ask the fabricators to strictly separate ECOBRASS swarf from other swarf. In case of a delivery of ECOBRASS semi-finished products (tube, rod, wire, section) you will receive an extra ECOBRASS container. Please store the Wieland ECOBRASS swarf in this container and return it to Wieland-Werke AG. For the returned clean and unmixed ECOBRASS swarf you will receive a credit note for the ECOBRASS swarf value.
Please note:
If ECOBRASS is mixed with other swarf, the mixed swarf has to be refined.
