Traverse-wound strip

Traverse-wound strip consists of coils which are welded together using the WIG process and then wound onto a drum or core. Depending on the strip width, considerably longer strip lengths can be achieved than with individual coils. The excellent quality of the welds allows the operator to continuously run the strip through the stamping tools without causing disruption, thus reducing down time. Depending on the design, the stamped parts located at the weld seam may not be fully suitable for the intended function, therefore the welds can be marked in colour if required.

We draw a distinction between drums with side flanges and those without. Depending on the type of drum, the net weight of the traverse-wound strip is between 150 and 1500 kg, and the traverse-wound strip width between 150 and 480 mm.

The flangeless drums are least expensive, since the drum centres are made from cardboard or a copper alloy. The latter is particularly environmentally friendly, since it can be returned together with the stamping scrap. It can be made from copper, brass or phosphor bronze and supplied in the following formats:

Material of core Inner diameter Core width
Brass and bronze 300 mm 300 mm
345 mm
400 mm 300 mm
