The planet wheels installed in the new continuously variable automatic transmissions are characterized by higher transmittable torques. This results in a higher load on cogwheel bearings. Part of this bearing is the thrust washerdisk for absorbing axial load forces caused by helical planetary gears. Wieland-B09 (PDF, 29 KB) has proven to be an appropriate material for this. One of the outstanding characteristics of the material is its capacity to resist wear and corrosion caused by the ATF oils used in these transmissions.
