Bushings for mass balance system
Mass balance systems not only increase driving comfort but alongside engine performance and vehicle fittings, they are significant influencers in the customer’s purchase decision.
The bearing of the gear shaft is important, and the bushing has to be selected according to wether the gearbox is in aluminium or steel. Composite steel bushings are not advisable for aluminium gearboxes. Wieland S31 solid wrapped bushings are the most suitable ones for this purpose. The expansion coefficients are similar for both materials. The bushing remains fixed in the gearbox and does not loosen as might be the case should composite steel bushings be used. Solid bushings, irrespective of whether they are made from, Wieland S31, Wieland B09 or Wieland L66 can be built into steel gearboxes without causing any problems.
