Flexible printed circuits (FPC) are stamped from strip with a maximum thickness of 105 µm. The strip can either be made by electrodeposition (ED) or - as done at Wieland - by rolling and annealing (RA). Compared to electrodeposition, rolling and annealing operations have the advantage that the mechanical properties, such as
- strength
- resilience and relaxation
- grain size
can be adjusted.
The dry and high-quality surfaces of rolled products facilitate subsequent laminating operations. The Wieland alloy K14 (Cu-PHC) is particularly suitable.
