Printed circuit boards are carriers of data processing components (e.g. integrated circuits). Unlike the hard version associated with the term "board", printed circuit boards are also available in flexible form, namely Flexible Printed Circuits (FPC).
Flexible Printed Circuits
Flexible printed circuits are stamped from strip with a maximum thickness of 105 µm. The strip can either be made by rolling and annealing (RA) - as done at Wieland - or by electrodeposition (ED). Compared to the latter one, rolling and annealing operations have the advantage that the mechanical properties such as
- strength
- resilience and relaxation
- grain size
can be adjusted.
The high-quality rolled surfaces facilitate subsequent laminating operations. Besides K14 there are other suitable alloys.
